Golfest Caps Off Historic Year in Butler Athletics
Butler University's annual golf outing that supports Bulldog
Athletics - was held on Monday, June 7th at Pebble Brook Golf Club
in Noblesville, Ind.
Two hundred fifty-six golfers participated and 58 sponsors
supported this year’s Golfest making it one of the largest
outings in the history of the event. Sunshine and warm breezes
covered the golf course throughout the day as ideal conditions
settled in making it a perfect day for everyone in attendance.
The 64 foursomes were made up of Bulldog Club donors, former
student-athletes, corporate sponsors, coaches and athletic staff
members. After the round was completed, attendees were addressed by
Butler Athletic Director Barry Collier and head coaches Beth
Couture (Women’s Basketball), Jeff Voris (Football) and Brad
Stevens (Men’s Basketball).
"It was not only great day to spend with our alumni, fans and
donors, but also a time to look back on what has been one of the
most memorable seasons in the history of Butler Athletics," said
Athletic Director Barry Collier. “It is also a good
springboard for us as we move toward the 2010-11 season of
competition.”
Golfest traditionally takes place the day after the Butler
Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony, which was
held on Sunday, June 6th in the Atherton Union on Butler's
campus.
"It’s been a tremendous year for Butler Athletics, so to cap
it off with five new inductees into the Butler Athletics Hall of
Fame along with a record-breaking Golfest, it’s just a
special way to end the year," said Associate Athletic Director Mike
Freeman. "Neither event would be possible without the help
and support of the B-Association and its members along with our
volunteers from the Athletic Department and University
Advancement."
