Feb. 7, 2005

Butler University will honor 209 student-athletes for academic excellence in the Jostens' "Scholar-Athlete Recognition Night." The ceremony will take place during halftime of the Butler-Cleveland State men's basketball game Thursday, February 10. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Athletes being recognized have received a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) during the fall and/or spring semesters and/or currently hold a 3.25 GPA. With 209 student-athletes being honored, more than 50 percent of Butler University Athletes will receive the distinction.

"We've been fortunate to have Jostens as a continued sponsor of our academic recognition night for six years," said Carol Reep, senior associate athletic director. "We're very proud to have such a large number of athletes who succeed academically and athletically at such a high level."

Butler University will also receive a check for $1,000 from Jostens to provide classroom funding for student-athletes.
