Seventy-Eight Butler Athletes Named To Horizon League Spring Honor Roll

June 29, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Butler Athletics continued its tradition of strong academic success, as 78 Bulldog student-athletes were recognized as a part of the Horizon League's 2007 Spring Academic Honor Roll. The league office made the announcement on Friday (June 29).

Butler's 78 representatives are tied for the most in the league during the spring semester. Milwaukee also garnered 78 members. A total of 532 student-athletes from the nine league schools were named to the honor roll.

The men's cross country/track and field team led the way for Butler with 14 representatives, while the women's cross country/track and field squad added 11 members. Women's soccer followed with nine recipients.

Butler also boasted the most representatives out of all league schools on four of the teams, including men's basketball (four), men's cross country/track and field (14), men's golf (six) and women's golf (five).

Forty-nine of the 78 honor roll members carry a 3.5 grade point average or higher, including every representative from the women's basketball team, men's soccer team, softball team, women's swimming team and women's tennis team.

Members for the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent season; 2) completion of three semesters as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale).
