Tom Crowley Named Athletic Director At Niagara
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler Associate Athletic Director for
Internal Operations Tom Crowley has been named director of
athletics at Niagara University. Crowley was introduced as
the new athletic director at a press conference on Niagara’s
campus on Thursday, Oct. 4.
Crowley, boasting nearly three decades of coaching, business and
administrative experience, has had responsibility for
Butler’s game operations, event management, facilities and
budget for the past five years. Previously, he held athletic
development positions at Vermont and Temple.
A 1978 graduate of The Wharton School at the University of
Pennsylvania, Crowley was captain of the 1978 Penn basketball team
which advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. He began a coaching
career at Penn in 1979, and helped lead the Quakers to the NCAA
Final Four. He had coaching stops at Xavier, Rutgers and
Stanford, before becoming head men’s basketball coach at St.
Michael’s College (Vt.) in 1990.
He coached at St. Michael’s for seven seasons and served two
years as head men’s basketball coach at Christian Brothers
University (Tenn.). He also worked in private business for
two years.
