*Senior Mark Tucker continued to establish his credentials as one of the nation's elite distance runners with a third place individual finish at the Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championship held at Purdue University. Tucker covered the 10K course in 30:32 and finished just five seconds behind runner-up Gavin Thompson of Eastern Michigan. There were 210 runners from 31 teams competing in the regional meet.

*Seniors Dale Jennings and Lou Capizzi took top honors for the 2002 Butler football team at the squad's annual post-season banquet. Jennings was named the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player, while Capizzi was picked as the Bulldogs' Most Valuable Defensive Player. Sophomore Justin Campbell was named Special Forces (Special Teams) Most Valuable Player, while seniors Russ Mann and Matt Collins were named co-recipients of the Hilton U. Brown Mental Attitude Award.

*Senior Amber Gascoigne placed 12th in the 217-runner field at the Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championship. Gascoigne finished the 6K race in 21:40, missing 11th place and a trip to the NCAA National Championship by just eight-tenths of a second!

*Sophomore Areal Bienemy set a Butler three-game match record for block assists in the Bulldogs' volleyball victory at Youngstown State. Bienemy had nine block assists against the Penguins to break the previous school mark of 8, held by seven different players.

*Senior Michael Mariscalco was named to the all-tournament team at the Horizon League Men's Soccer Championship. Mariscalco helped the Bulldogs reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
