Josh Rattray was named assistant sports information director at Butler University in August of 2009. He is the primary SID contact for BU women's basketball, women's soccer, volleyball, baseball, tennis and swimming. Rattray also is the day-to-day contact for ButlerSports.com.
During his time at Butler, Rattray has increased multimedia on ButlerSports.com, adding videos, audios, photo galleries and live blogs as well as interactive desktop publishing.
Rattray, a one-time play-by-play broadcaster for Butler
women’s basketball, worked as a communications contact for
women’s basketball, men’s/women’s soccer,
men’s/women’s cross country, and
men’s/women’s golf at the Horizon League office in
Indianapolis during the 2008-09 school year. He also assisted with
the Horizon League Network, the league’s internet destination
for video webcasts and other video-on-demand features.
Prior to joining the Horizon League, Rattray served for one year
(2007-08) as a sports information intern at Michigan State
University, working with the Spartans’ baseball, men’s
and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s
swimming and diving teams. While at Michigan State, Rattray helped
the athletics communications office lead the nation in podcast
downloads on MSUSpartans.com.
Rattray spent the 2006-07 year as sports information assistant
at Cleveland State University, serving as the primary contact for
eight of the school’s 17 Division I sports, including men's
soccer, baseball and wrestling.
Rattray attended Butler University, 2002-06, where he handled
radio broadcasts for more than 90 women’s basketball
games. As an undergraduate, he gained radio experience at
ESPN 950 in Indianapolis and editorial/writing experience at High
School Sports Publications, Inc., in Crown Point, Ind., and with
Dawgnet, Butler’s weekly on-line publication. He also
served internships with the Indiana High School Athletic
Association and the Horizon League.
He earned a B.A. degree in media arts from Butler in 2006. He is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America has served on Butler's Top 100 student committee and Information Management Council. He is single and resides in Indianapolis.
