Situated next adjacent to baseball's Bulldog Park as a part of the Davey Athletic Complex, the Davey Track & Field is used primarily by the Butler track & field teams and the football team for practices but is also utilized by the other athletics programs for conditioning. Located just behind historic Hinkle Fieldhouse, the track facility's history can be traced back to April of 1930.
In the fall of 2011, the outdoor track was given a major overhaul. A new surface was installed, Rekortan 100% polyurethane track, which is the same type of surface used in the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Also, the facility added new brick walls on the south end and additional Butler Track signage.
The track is a short walk down a hill from historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. It also serves as a training ground for the community as well as local high school teams.
