Couture Tabbed For NAIA District VI All-Time Team

Butler shot its best round of the tournament and moved into 23rd place in the final team standings at the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Central Regional which concluded on Saturday, May 12. Milwaukee Slugs Past Butler
WIth Butler leading 5-0, Milwaukee scored 13 unanswered runs in the late innings to beat the Bulldog baseball team 13-5. Sixteen of UWM's 21 hits came in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings.

McNulty, Sullivan Named All-Tournament
Senior Lauren McNulty and junior Meaghan Sullivan were named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the 2012 Horizon League Softball Championship on Saturday, May 12. The two Bulldogs helped Butler to a third place team finish in the league championship.

Milwaukee pounded 20 hits and got a good pitching start from Cale Tassi to beat the Butler baseball team 14-5 on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Park.

Six Bulldogs Compete At Grand Valley Meet
Butler came away with a pair of lifetime best performances and a couple of near misses at the Grand Valley State Second To Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 12. The Bulldogs had six runners competing in the team’s final event before the NCAA Regionals, May 24-26.

Bulldog Comeback Falls Short
The Butler baseball team tallied three runs in the bottom of the 9th but ran out of outs in a 7-3 loss to Milwaukee on Friday afternoon. Senior Mike Hoscheit went 2-for-2 with a walk to lead Butler.

Butler Slips To 24th At NCAA Regional
Senior Michele Nash carded one of the best rounds of the day, but it wasn’t enough to carry Butler at the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Central Regional on Friday, May 11. The Bulldogs wound up with a team score of 334 and slipped into 24th place after the second round of the tournament.

Bulldogs Bid Ends At Valparaiso
Butler’s bid to capture the 2012 Horizon League Softball Championship came to an end on Friday, May 11, at the VU Softball Field. The fifth-seeded Bulldogs, who began the tournament with a pair of upsets, were eliminated with losses to No. 2 seed Loyola, 9-1, and to top-seeded Valparaiso, 3-2, in eight innings.

2011 Butler Golfest Draws Record Numbers, Aids Student-Athletes
Golfest, Butler University's annual golf outing in support of Bulldog Athletics - was held on Monday, June 6 at Pebble Brook Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. In an effort to enhance the overall student-athlete experience, all funds raised through the outing directly benefit Butler’s 365 student-athletes and 19 NCAA Division I teams.

Butler Captures Record Eighth McCafferty Trophy
For the second consecutive year and for a record-breaking eighth time overall, Butler has captured the James J. McCafferty Trophy as the Horizon League’s all-sports champion. The Bulldogs further won both the men’s and women’s all-sports titles to make a clean sweep of the league’s annual competition awards.

The Butler men's and women's tennis teams hosted a clinic for tennis players in wheelchairs this fall. The Bulldogs help with this program in conjunctions with the Indianapolis Community Tennis Association and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indianapolis.

Butler Athletics Bookin' With The Bulldogs
The 2010 Bookin’ with the Bulldogs reading program was designed to give Butler Athletic Department staff members and student-athletes a chance to develop their leadership skills while giving back to their community. During the 2010 spring semester several reading teams visited local elementary schools to read to students and answer questions about a variety of topics.

The Butler Bulldogs are writing one of college basketball’s all-time great stories: the Bulldogs will play in the NCAA Final Four in their hometown of Indianapolis. The No. 5 seed Bulldogs defeated No. 2 seed Kansas State, 63-56, Saturday afternoon to advance to college basketball’s biggest stage.

Western Kentucky’s Megan Meinke scored in the 45th minute to give the Butler women’s soccer team a 1-0 loss in its season opener Friday afternoon. Meinke’s game-winning goal, a strike from the left side just outside the box, came at 44:35.

Fourteen members of the Horizon League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee visited Riley Children’s Hospital on Friday, July 31. The community outreach opportunity included guest speakers, a video session and tour of the hospital.

Butler's Hayward creates buzz at 19-and-under national team trials
Butler's Gordon Hayward, who was selected for USA Basketball's 19-and-under national team Thursday, was first featured in the sporting press four years ago. A story in a regional section of the Indianapolis Star profiled Gordon and his twin sister, Heather, who were playing mixed doubles in the Indiana State Open. They were precocious prep tennis stars. She had already played No. 1 singles as a freshman at Brownsburg High; he played No. 1 doubles then, and No. 1 singles the next year. The paper said the twins planned on going to Purdue, their parents' alma mater.

Former Butler men's soccer players are invited back to campus to enjoy a weekend of Homecoming activities, including an Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match between two teams of Butler alums will be held at Varsity Field, beginning at 10 a.m.

Softball, Soccer Players Spark Kids' Interest in Books
It might have looked like a huddle, but reading a story and having fun was the game plan, when outfielder Jenny Jacobs of Indianapolis gathered her "team" of youngsters around her during the Jan. 12 Readers' Day in Hinkle Fieldhouse. A senior member of Butler's softball team, Jacobs read the children's book Click, Clack Moo during a family literacy fair, staged before the Butler men's basketball game against Milwaukee.
