TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Butler women's swimming team swam to five new season top times and won three events Saturday at a triangular meet at Rose Hulman. Butler split the meet, defeating Rose Hulman (146-109) and falling to Transylvania. Freshman Kyle Johannsen won the 500 and 1,000 freestyle races to lead the Bulldogs.
Johannsen took first and registered a top time in the 1,000 free, clocking 11:16.03. She followed that with a win in the 500 (5:33.44). Freshman Nikki Weston swam to two team top times, highlighted by her first-place performance in the 200 fly (2:22.44). Her other top time came in the 400 IM (4:58.33), where she finished second.
Johannsen and Wesler teamed with sophomore Megan Wesler and senior Stephanie Moles to record a season-best 3:51.56 in the 400 free relay.
Wesler posted a top time in the 200 free (2:03.25), good for second in the event. She also had a third-place swim in the 100 (58.11).
Senior Momo Wilson was the other individual to record a top time with a 2:39.65 in the 200 breast.
Moles added a pair of third-place swims (11:31.09 in the 1,000 and 26.78 in the 50).
The Bulldogs host Youngstown State, Valparaiso, Ball State and Eastern Illinois Sunday, Jan. 24 at Fishers High School. The meet, which will be Senior Day for Butler's three seniors, will begin at noon.
