INDIANAPOLIS - Strong swims by Lauren Scotti and Caitlin Weichelt and a second-place finish in the 400 free relay highlighted the Butler swimming team's night in a triangular meet at the University of Indianapolis.
Scotti placed third in the 100 free (56.45), registering Butler's fastest time in the event this season. Scotti also had a season-best time in the 200 IM (2:20.63) and swam the second leg of the 400 free relay. The 400 free relay team (Weichelt-Scotti-Grogan-Somerville) finished second with a time of 3:47.90.
Weichelt was BU's leader in the 200 IM, clocking 2:19.23 in addition to her 56.77 split on the 400 free relay team. Her time of 5:22.72 led BU and placed fourth in the 500 free.
Lauren Lambrecht contributed strong sprints in the 50 free (26.55) and 100 free (1:00.24). Kathleen Brannen (2:04.72) and Kyle Johnnsen (2:09.37) added good performances in the 200 free along with Kaitie Ring (2:06.07). Brannen's time of 1:16.22 in the 100 breast was also a season best.
Marshall University won the three-team meet, followed by UIndy and Butler.
Butler is in Kentucky at Transylvania this weekend, swimming against TU and Franklin College.
