Bulldogs Win Triangular Meet


LEXINGTON, Ky. - Caitlin Weichelt won the 100 and 200 freestyle to lead the Butler swimming team to a triangular meet win at Transylvania University in Kentucky. The Bulldogs placed first in seven events to capture the three-team meet.

Weichelt had a season-best effort in the 100 free (56.20) to place first. She won the 200 free with a mark of 2:02.23. She also placed third in the 100 breast.

Lauren Lambrecht, Kyle Johannsen, Eshan Pua and Hannah Somerville also won individual events. Lambrecht won the 400 IM with a time of 4:57.63, while Johannsen placed first in the 1000 free (11:26.19). Pua won the 100 fly with a season-best time of 1:01.32. Somerville won the 100 back, clocking a season-best 1:02.50. Somerville also place second in the 50 free.

Additionally, Butler closed the meet by placing first in the 400 free relay. The team of Somerville, Elizabeth Grogan, Kathleen Brannen and Kaitie Ring registered a time of 3:48.53.

Butler's next meet is Sunday, Jan. 22 vs. Xavier, Ball State, Youngstown State and Hillsdale.
