Medley Relay Leads Bulldogs At League Championships Thursday
BROWN DEER, Wis. - Butler's 400 medley relay team set its season-best time by more than eight seconds to highlight Thursday's action at the Horizon League Swimming & Diving Championships.
The relay squad (Hannah Somerville, Rosalie Fidanze, Lauren Lambrecht, Eshan Pua) clocked 4:03.29, crushing this season's previous top mark of 4:11.48. The Bulldogs were 7th in the event, edging Valpo's 400 medley relay team by 1.04 seconds.
Freshman Caitlin Weichelt led BU with a 5:18.29 in the 500 free, and six other Bulldogs had season bests in the event. Lambrecht was the team's top finisher in the 200 IM, followed closely by Pua. Stephanie Shoults had a season-best mark in the event.
In the 50 free, it was freshman Lauren Scotti clocking a season-best 25.15 to lead Butler. Four other Bulldogs added season bests in the event.
Butler, with 72 points after two days, is still in 8th place, just behind Valpo. Milwaukee is leading both the men's and women's standings.
The Horizon League Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Milwaukee, will continue through Saturday night.
