INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's swim team registered some type of season-best performance in eight different events at the final day of IUPUI's House of Champions event. Lauren Lambrecht's fifth-place swim in the 200 fly (2:17.20) was the team's best individual mark.
"Overall, we swam hot and cold today, but I was pleased to see that we overcame our inconsistency with a stronger final session and finishing the meet on a high note with a season best performance in the 400 Free Relay," head coach Maurice Stewart said. "This was a good meet for our swimmers to identify racing strengths and weaknesses moving forward as we complete the first half of the season."
Lauren Need and Rosalie Fidanze each registered two season bests on the day. Need clocked 19:17.65 in the mile free and also had a season best in the 100 fly (1:09.83). Kathleen Brannen led Butler in the mile (19:05.74), placing 11th while Kyle Johannsen finished 12th with a season-best effort. Fidanze's season bests came in the 100 breast (1:12.62) and 200 breast (2:39.70).
Kaitie Ring placed 10th in the 100 back with a season-best 1:01.53. Eshan Pua, Rachel Soberman, Hayden Engstrom and the 400 free relay team (Hannah Somerville, Elizabeth Grogan, Pua, Caitlin Weichelt) also season-best efforts, with Engstrom's swim in the 200 fly a lifetime best.
The Dawgs have to meets in the upcoming week. Butler will swim Thursday, Nov. 17 at the University of Indianapolis. Marshall is also competing in the triangular with the Greyhounds and Bulldogs. Butler is at Transylvania the next day in a triangular meet that includes Franklin College.
