Medley Relay, IM Lead Bulldogs In First Night of House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS - Season-best relay times and a strong outing by four swimmers in the 200 IM led the Butler women's swimming team in the first evening of IUPUI's House of Champions meet. BU is sixth in the team standings after 11 events.

"I was pleased with our 200 IM swimmers tonight, led by Lauren Lambrecht. Having two swimmers post lifetime bests and three out of four place in the top 16 is pretty impressive," head coach Maurice Stewart said. "We need to be more aggressive racing through turns and close races better as a team. This will yield faster performance times on Saturday. I am confident we will find a way to be better tomorrow."

Butler posted a season-best mark of 1:42.91 in the 200 free relay, which was led by Hannah Somerville's lead-off of 25.92. The 400 medley relay was also a season best (4:11.48).

All four 200 IM swimmers had good marks, led by Lauren Lambrecht's 2:14.24 swim that finished fifth. Eshan Pua was 10th overall (second in her heat) while Kaitie Ring (2:19.46) and Stephanie Shoults (2:31.10) also gave personal-best efforts.

Caitlin Weichelt finished fourth in the 500 free (5:15.58). Four other Bulldogs had season bests in the 500 free.

In the 50 free, Lauren Scotti (25.77 - 13th) and Somerville (26.00 - 15th) placed and Rachel Soberman won her heat with a lifetime-best swim.  Rosalie Fidanze also had a season best in the event.
