VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Butler swimming team continued its winning ways this season by placing first in a meet against Valparaiso and Monmouth. The Bulldogs won six events and posted three season-best times on the day.
Butler won both relays and four individual events. After placing first in the 200 free and medley relays, freshman Lauren Scotti won two events and classmates Caitlin Weichelt and Eshan Pua each won a race.
"It was a good meet for us," head coach Maurice Stewart said. "We swam with a lot of spirit and we were together as a team. Moving forward, we need to pay attention to details and sharpen our focus. That should result in better times moving forward."
Scotti won the 50 free (26.15) and the 100 back (1:02.99) and also swam the anchor leg of the 200 free relay. Her 200 free relay split was 25.92. She narrowly edged sophomore teammate Kaitie Ring in the 100 back. Ring placed second with a 1:03.10 mark.
