400 Free Relay, Distance Free Stand Out In Season's Last Day


GENEVA, Ohio - In the fourth and final day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming Championships, the Butler swim team saw its 400 free relay post the second-best time in school history.

In the final event of the season, BU's 400 free relay squad (Serena Daley-Emma Green-Lauren Scotti-Caitlin Weichelt) finished with a time of 3:37.37. Led by Weichelt's 53.72 anchor swim, the 400 free relay posted a mark only bested in school history back in 2000. Also notable in the relay was Daley's lead leg of 54.57 is now 10th in school history for a 100 free time.

Sarah Gibbons also placed her name second in school history as an individual. Gibbons' lifetime best (18:16.70) in the mile free was the best 1650 time by a Bulldog since 1994.

Two other marks were worthy of Butler's all-time top 10 list. Rosalie Fidanze clocked a lifetime-best performance 2:28.32 in the 200 breast. Her time is fourth in school history. In the 200 fly, Megan Boebinger's season-best time (2:12.25) stands fifth in Butler history.

In the 100 free, Milly Sauber and Adrianna Kuhl posted lifetime bests. Three swimmers - Green, Maggie Wright and Allie Dvorchak - set lifetime-best marks in the 200 fly. In the 200 back, Scotti led Butler with a 2:14.32, followed by Cecilia Rose (2:16.59) and a lifetime-best effort from Hayden Engstrom (2:18.77).

Richmond won the women's team standings, followed by UMass and Fordham. St. Bonaventure was the men's team champion. It was Butler's first time competing at the A-10 league meet.
