Scott Cummins

Scott Cummins, who directed the swimming program at Cumberland College (Ky.) last year, will begin his first season with the Bulldogs. Cummins, a former standout swimmer at Western Kentucky University, joined the swimming head coaching ranks last year at Cumberland College and turned in a banner rookie season.

He led Cumberland's men to a 10-1 record, a team championship in the Appalachian Swim Conference and a fourth place finish at the NAIA National Meet, and Cumberland's women to a 6-5 record, a conference runner-up finish and a ninth place finish at the national meet. Five Cumberland swimmers earned NAIA All-America honors and two were crowned NAIA national champions!

In additional to his head coaching experience, Cummins served assistant coaching stints with Western Kentucky (1997-98), the Vette City Swim Team (1997-98) and the Lakeside Swim Team (1997).

Cummins was a three-time most valuable swimmer at Western Kentucky, where he helped the Hilltoppers compile a 52-3 record from 1993-97. He was named Western Kentucky's most dedicated swimmer for two straight years (1995-97) and he served as a team captain in 1996-97. He was named Eastern Intercollegiate Swimmer of the Year in 1995, and he finished his collegiate career with seven Western Kentucky swim records.

Prior to enrolling in college, Cummins was named 1993 Kentucky High School Swimmer of the Year and 1993 U.S. Swimming Swimmer of the Year in Kentucky. He was a four-time Kentucky high school individual state champion. Cummins earned a B.S. degree from Western Kentucky in 1998.
