Freshman Raj Duggal set two school records Wednesday in the first day of the 2004 Horizon League Championships, shattering Butler marks in the 500-yd. and 1000-yd. freestyle. Duggal actually broke both records in the same event, swimming the first 500 yards of the 1000-yd. freestyle in 4:42.68 and finishing the entire race in 9:34.76.

The fourth place finish broke the old marks of 4:45.09 in the 500-yd. (Judkins, 2000) and 9:47.99 (Balhoff, 2001) in the 1000-yd. freestyle. Duggal's time over the 1000 yards was more than 13 seconds faster than the old record.

The Bulldogs currently sit sixth in the men's standings and seventh in the women's rankings through five events at the championships, being held at UIC in Chicago.
