Bulldogs Hold Strong Against Cleveland State, Canisius

Cleveland, Ohio - The Butler women's swimming team continued the fall portion of the season on Friday (Oct. 31), putting up fast times against Horizon League foe Cleveland State and non-league squad Canisius at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.
Sarah Lynne Gates continued to thrive in her senior campaign, posting a pair of third-place times with a 2:17.65 in the 200 IM and a 1:03.13 in the 100 back.
Stephanie Moles and Weston finished 3-4 in the 100 freestyle, with Moles posting a time of 59.18 and Weston finishing 0.7 behind with a swim of 59.88. Moles also added a fifth-place showing in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:43.61.
In the 100 breast, Weston and Momo Wilson also combined for a 3-4 finish, posting times of 1:11.73 and 1:13.46, respectively.
Qualls and Maria Keyler placed 4-5 in the 100 fly with times of 1:12.63 and 1:17.80, respectively. Keyler also added a sixth-place time of 6:14.58 in the 500 free.
Bates tallied a fourth-place showing in the 500 free with a time of 5:44.44 and placed sixth in the 200 free with a swim of 2:07.42.
Katie Kruger notched a time of 26.65 in the 50 free to finish fifth overall, while Allison Shafer added sixth-place time of 1:18.63 in the 100 breast and a seventh-place showing in the 200 IM with a swim of 2:33.68.
The Bulldogs closed out the meet in convincing fashion, as Gates, Krueger, Moles and Wilson teamed up to post a second-place time of 1:46.72 in the 200 freestyle relay.
Butler returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 1) when it goes head-to-head with Youngstown State beginning at noon.
