Youngstown, Ohio - The Bulldogs men's and women's swimming teams claimed wins in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes on Friday (Nov. 3) evening, as the men's squad took on Grove City in neutral water while the women's team battled with Horizon League foe Youngstown State in the Beeghly Center Natatorium.
Korey McCulley swam to a season-best mark in the 100 backstroke for the men's team, claiming the victory in 57.00. Meanwhile, Raj Duggal earned a win in the 200 back with a season-fast time of 2:06.92.
Duggal also swam to a season-best mark in the 1,000 free, notching a 10:07.61, while Jason Brozek tallied season-fast times in the 100 free (49.18) and the 200 breast (2:16.46).
The 200 freestyle relay team of Brozek, Chris Gordon, Jimmy Howard and McCulley added a 1:28.92 for the year's best thus far.
The women's team also posted wins in the backstroke events. Sarah Lynne Gates scored a win in the 100 back with a time of 1:04.46 before registering a 2:20.01 to claim the 200 back victory.
Mary Beth Arnold, meanwhile, swept the breaststroke events in the meet, earning a win in the 100 with a time of 1:08.96 before taking the 200 in a time of 2:31.72. Ali Overgaard also notched a win for the Bulldogs, setting a season-best time in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 1:01.97.
Beth Ann Mensing scored a season-best mark in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:41.57.
The Bulldogs return to action on Nov. 12 when they take on conference foes UIC and UW-Milwaukee at the Carmel High School pool beginning at 2:00 p.m.
