After three weeks away from competition, Butler returned to action over the weekend (Dec. 2-3) at the House of Champions meet at the IU Natatorium on the IUPUI campus. Junior Raj Duggal won the 1650-yd. freestyle in the seven-team field to lead the Butler effort.

"We've been going extremely hard in practice these past few weeks, so this weekend was difficult on our swimmers," said assistant coach Carlton Racette. "However, they got up and raced very well."

Duggal won the 1650 in 16:40.26, while also finishing fourth in the 400-yd. individual medley, getting to the wall in 4:26.48, and sixth in the 500-yd. freestyle (4:55.14). Jason Brozek also placed ninth in the 200-yd. individual medley with a time of 2:04.50.

On the women's side, junior Mary Beth Arnold placed fourth in the 100-yd. breaststroke (1:08.53) and fifth in the 200-yd. breaststroke (2:30.10).

Other highlights included Melissa Nemec (season-best times in the 50-yd. freestyle, 100-yd. backstroke and 200-yd. backstroke) and Travis Cheney (season-best times in the 50-yd. freestyle, 100-yd. butterfly and a lifetime best in the 200-yd. butterfly). Amanda Walter had three season-best times (50-yd freestyle, 100-yd. freestyle and 200-yd. freestyle), while Jenna Fett turned in two season-best times (100-yd. breaststroke and 200-yd. breaststroke).

Butler is off until Jan. 6-7, when the Bulldogs make the short trip to the University of Indianapolis for the Greyhounds' Invitational.
