Jan. 16, 2008

Fresh off a 144-129 victory over Rose-Hulman on Jan. 12, the Bulldogs head north to Green Bay on Saturday (Jan. 19) when they take on the Phoenix and visiting Northern Michigan beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET.

The battle against Green Bay will be the fifth and final Horizon League foe for Butler during the regular season. The Bulldogs have already faced Valparaiso, Youngstown State, Milwaukee and UIC during the fall.

The spring season opened up with success abound for Butler, as the Bulldogs scored seven individual wins and a relay decision en route to a 144-129 triumph over host Rose-Hulman on Jan. 12. The Bulldogs came up just short of sweeping the tri-meet, falling to Transylvania, 132-124.

Junior Sarah Lynne Gates won three individual titles in the meet, claiming the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.00), the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.35) and the 400-yard individual medley (5:00.16). She also anchored the winning 800-yard freestyle relay.

Freshman Leigh Weston (100 and 200 back) and senior Elizabeth Shafer (200 and 500 free) notched two victories a piece.

Following a weekend off from competition, the Bulldogs will return to action on Feb. 2 when they take on host Xavier beginning at 1:00 p.m.
