COASTING UNTIL THE CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Butler men's and women's swimming teams are idle until the Horizon League Championships on Feb. 28-Mar.2, hosted by Illinois-Chicago.
FLAMES DOUSE BUTLER: The Butler men's and women's swimming teams both lost to UIC on Friday (Feb. 1). The men's squad lost 129-90, while the women were defeated 122-91.
CALLING CARLO: Junior Carlo Girolamo placed first in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.42, just ahead of teammates John Allan (52.18) and Patrick McKenny (52.32). Girolamo also swam the final leg of the top-finishing 200-yard freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 1:31.98. Other members on the team were Ryan Ellis, Allan and McKenney.
HOT SCOTT: Sophomore Catie Scott posted a pair of solid performances against UIC. The Libertyville, Ill. native won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.09 and then finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.88. She was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team which finished first in a time of 1:47.21. Other teammates were Kristen France, Tara Wetzel and Amber Gault.
NOTABLES: Freshman Carlton Racette won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:17.21 and placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.13...Brendan VanCleve placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.25 and second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.32...Stephen Anderson took home top honors in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.80....Liz Klueh finished just ahead of teammate Amber Gault in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:20.55...Anna Pecharich placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1.02.50) just beating teammate Jesse Levknecht who finished third in a time of 1:02.87.
