April 21, 2006
Both Butler's men's and women's swimming teams were recognized as Academic All-American Teams by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the CSCAA announced earlier this month. The women's team posted a 3.46 team grade point average for the fall 2005 semester and the men came in at 3.10. The women earned a superior rating, while the men garnered an excellent accolade.
The women's team GPA of 3.46 tied for the university's top student-athlete team grade point average. The men's team GPA of 3.10 trailed only the men's golf team among male squads. Under the direction of first-year head coach Maurice Stewart, 14 Butler swimmers earned a spot on the Butler Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll for the fall 2005 semester.
The CSCAA recognized 290 teams with commendable (2.80 or better), excellent (3.00 or better) and superior (3.25 or better) distinction.
