Butler Leads The Nation In Track & Field Academics
Butler ranked among the top five teams for both men and women and wound up as the top combined program among schools honored by the U. S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as 2009 Division I All-Academic Track and Field Teams. A total of 67 mens teams and 130 womens programs were recognized by the coaches association.

Stephen Lisgo Named Horizon League Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year
Butler junior Stephen Lisgo, who turned in a record-setting performance during the spring track season, has been selected as the 2009 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year. He was chosen for the leagues top honor by a vote of Horizon League track and field coaches.

Kent Wories, Andy Baker Named Academic All-America
Butler track and cross country athletes Kent Wories and Andy Baker have been named to the 2008-09 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team, chosen by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). The two distance runners were named to the second team of the University Division Mens Track and Field/Cross Country academic honor squad.

Stephen Lisgo Earns All-America Honors At NCAA Track Championship
Junior Stephen Lisgo was the last Butler runner to compete at the 2009 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. And when he completed his race, he walked off the University of Arkansas track with a Butler record and the status of All-American!

Stephen Lisgo Advances To NCAA Steeplechase Finals
Butlers Stephen Lisgo waited out a long rain delay and then made sure his stay in Fayetteville, Ark., would last a little longer with a solid performance in the mens 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 2009 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Butler junior was one of 14 athletes who advanced to the steeplechase finals on Friday, June 12.

Andy Baker, Kent Wories Named Academic All-District
Butler distance runners Andy Baker and Kent Wories have been named to the 2008-09 ESPN The Magazine District V All-Academic Track/Cross Country Team, selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Each earned first team recognition on the honor squad, chosen from Division I athletes at schools in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba.

Butler Sends Three To NCAA Track Championship
Butler junior Stephen Lisgo knew he was headed to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the 2009 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which will be hosted by the University of Arkansas at John McDonnell Field, June 10-13. He found out on Tuesday, June 2, that teammates Joe MacDonald and Kris Gauson would be joining him at the national meet.

Stephen Lisgo Places Third In Steeplechase At Mideast Regional
Junior Stephen Lisgo placed third in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase to highlight the performance of the Butler men's track and field squad on the final day of the NCAA Division I Mideast Regional in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday (May 30). The Bulldogs wound up placing 22nd of 42 teams at the regional meet.

A pair of Butler distance runners found themselves counted among the fastest of the day in the Mideast Region of the NCAA Track and Field Championship, as junior Joe MacDonald and senior Andy Baker notched impressive showings in the men's 5,000 on Friday (May 29) evening.

Joe MacDonald Wins 1500 At Georgia Tech Invitational
Junior Joe MacDonald ran the second-fastest 1500-meter time in Butler history in a winning performance to pace the Bulldogs at the Georgia Tech Invitational, which concluded at in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, May 16. MacDonald was among a handful of Butler athletes competing at the open meet.

Butler Men Place Third At Horizon League Championship
Strong performances in the middle distance and distance events carried Butler's men to a third place finish at the 2009 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which concluded in Chicago, Ill., on Sunday (May 3). The Bulldogs captured four individual titles in the meet, including two on the final day of competition.
