Rob Mullett, Katie Clark Earn Horizon League Honors

Butler middle distance runners Rob Mullett and Katie Clark have been honored by the Horizon League for their efforts in the mile run at the Gladstein Invitational indoor track meet in Bloomington, Ind., on Friday, Jan. 22.  Mullett was named league Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Clark was selected as the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Mullett, a native of Brighton, U.K., captured the league’s weekly honor for the second consecutive week and for the third time this season.  The senior Butler runner placed second in the men’s mile invitational with a time of 4:05.32.  He was less than a second behind Butler assistant coach Darren Gauson, who won the race featuring top individuals.

Clark, a freshman from Beverly, U.K., broke the Butler school record in the mile, while finishing fifth in the women’s mile invitational.  She crossed the finish line in 4:53.30 to break the previous school mark of 4:54.01 set by Genni Gardner in 2007.

Butler’s track and field team will return to Bloomington, Ind., this weekend to compete in the Indiana Relays hosted by Indiana University, on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30.
