Rob Mullett, Katie Clark Earn Horizon League Honors
Butler middle distance runners Rob Mullett and Katie
Clark have been honored by the Horizon League for their
efforts in the mile run at the Gladstein Invitational indoor track
meet in Bloomington, Ind., on Friday, Jan. 22. Mullett was
named league Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Clark was
selected as the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Mullett, a native of Brighton, U.K., captured the league’s
weekly honor for the second consecutive week and for the third time
this season. The senior Butler runner placed second in the
men’s mile invitational with a time of 4:05.32. He was
less than a second behind Butler assistant coach Darren Gauson, who
won the race featuring top individuals.
Clark, a freshman from Beverly, U.K., broke the Butler school
record in the mile, while finishing fifth in the women’s mile
invitational. She crossed the finish line in 4:53.30 to break
the previous school mark of 4:54.01 set by Genni Gardner in
2007.
Butler’s track and field team will return to Bloomington,
Ind., this weekend to compete in the Indiana Relays hosted by
Indiana University, on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30.
