Butler Records Fall At Alex Wilson Last Chance
NOTRE DAME, IND. -- The Butler track and field squad took
advantage of the Alex Wilson Last Chance Meet, hosted by Notre
Dame, to break two school records and add a couple of qualifying
marks for the upcoming NCAA Indoor Track and Field
Championship. The Alex Wilson meet wrapped up on Saturday,
March 6.
Freshman Kirsty Legg turned in Butler’s top
individual performance with a fourth place finish in the
women’s mile. She won her section of the race in an
NCAA qualifying time of 4:44.49. Her effort broke her own
school record of 4:48.27, set earlier this year.
The Bulldogs also qualified for the national meet in the
men’s distance medley relay with a school-record time of
9:39.36. The team of seniors Joe Macdonald, Stephen Lisgo,
Kris Gauson and Rob Mullett placed seventh in their section and
12th overall. Butler finished ahead of Notre Dame,
Georgetown, Iowa State, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, Maryland, New
Mexico and North Carolina in the race.
The NCAA Championship will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., March
12-13.
