Gauson, Mullett Pace Bulldogs At Georgia Tech
ATLANTA, GA. -- Near-record performances by seniors Kris Gauson
and Rob Mullett highlighted the performance of the Butler track and
field squad at the non-scoring Georgia Tech Invitational, which
wrapped up on Saturday (May 15). The two were among a handful
of Bulldogs who traveled to Atlanta, Ga., for the competition.
Gauson turned in Butler’s highest individual finish with a
third place effort in the men’s 1500 meter run in
3:42.24. Mullett was right behind him in fourth place in
3:42.30. Both narrowly missed Gauson’s school mark of
3:42.13, set last season. Senior Joe Macdonald placed 15th in
the race in 3:46.33.
Gauson also competed in the men’s 800, placing 48th in
1:54.26.
Three members of the Butler women’s track and field squad
competed in both the 800 and 1500. Freshman Kirsty Legg was
the top finisher of the trio, placing 10th in the 1500 in 4:27.86
and 25th in the 800 in 2:11.53. Freshman Katie Clark came in
17th in the 1500 (4:32.73) and 36th in the 800 (2:16.05), while
senior Marbeth Shiell was 18th in the 1500 (4:33.10) and 37th in
the 800 (2:16.07).
Freshman Lauren McKillop recorded a personal best in the 1500 with
a 15th place finish in 4:29.74, while freshman Kaitlyn Love had a
personal best in the 800, placing 29th in 2:13.15.
Junior Rosie Edward turned in a tenth place finish in the
women’s 5,000 with a time of 18:11.79, while senior Sara Bird
finished 15th in the same race in 18:42.31.
