Kris Gauson Earns Top Horizon League Honor
Butler senior Kris Gauson (Edinburgh, Scotland) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, while Wright State junior Cassandra Lloyd (Springfield, Ohio) has been named Athlete of the Year on the women’s side. Results were determined by a vote of the League’s head coaches.

Gauson, Legg Wrap Up Track Season At NCAA Championships
Senior Kris Gauson and sophomore Kirsty Legg finished their standout outdoor track seasons at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships Thursday night at Drake Stadium. Both athletes competed in the 1500 meter run, with Legg placing 17th in the women's run to highlight the night. Gauson did not finish in the men's 1500.

Kris Gauson Earns Academic All-District Recognition
Just days after earning a berth in the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track And Field National Championship, Butler’s Kris Gauson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District V University Division Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team, chosen by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was one of 10 athletes honored on the District V first team.

Gauson, Legg Advance To NCAA National Meet
Kris Gauson and Kirsty Legg added to already impressive resumes and will represent Butler at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. The two middle distance standouts each qualified for the nationals with strong performances at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday, May 28.

Butler Sends Nine To NCAA Preliminary Round
Butler’s track and field squad will be well-represented at the preliminary round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held in Bloomington, Ind., May 26-28. Nine Bulldogs will be headed to the NCAA event at Indiana’s E. C. Billy Hayes Track, including 1500 meter top seed Kris Gauson.

Katie Clark and Kris Gauson each broke a league record and Kirsty Legg successfully defended two individual titles to pace a strong Butler performance at the 2011 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which concluded on Sunday, May 7. The Bulldogs finished third in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

Butler Places Eight On Academic All-League Squads
Eight Butler student-athletes, including three men’s basketball players, have been named to the 2010-11 Horizon League Winter Academic All-League Teams, announced by the league office on Tuesday, April 19. The honored athletes were chosen by a vote of league faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.
