Kirsty Legg Named Horizon League Runner of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler sophomore Kirsty Legg, who turned
in a record-breaking performance at the Indiana Relays, has been
named Horizon League Women’s Track and Field Runner of the
Week for the week beginning Jan. 24. It’s the second
consecutive week that the talented Butler runner has been honored
by the league.
Legg, who hails from Middlesborough, U.K., posted a pair of
runner-up finishes at the Indiana Relays. She broke her own
school record of 4:44.49 while finishing second in the
Women’s Mile Invitational in 4:41.59. She also placed
second in the Women’s 800 Invitational in 2:11.31.
Legg’s time in the mile currently ranks third in the
NCAA. Her 800 time is the best in the Horizon League this
season.
Butler will continue the indoor track season this weekend at the
Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday,
Feb. 4-5.
