Gauson, Legg Lead Butler At Mike Poehlein Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.  --  Senior Kris Gauson and sophomore Kirsty Legg each grabbed first place honors at the 2011 Mike Poehlein Invitational.  The meet was hosted by Purdue University at Dave Rankin Track and concluded on Saturday, April 2. 

Gauson finished first in the men’s 800 with a time of 1:53.07.  He edged out teammate Ross Clarke, who finished runner-up in 1:53.79.

The Bulldogs picked up a second place finish from sophomore Craig Jordan in the men’s 3,000 Steeplechase.  Saturday was the first time Jordan had participated in the event.  Freshman Callum Hawkins claimed third place in the men’s 1,500 in 3:57.27.

Sophomore Kirsty Legg earned first place honors in the women’s 800 with a time of 2:15.03.  It was the second time this season that Legg was able to grab the title in the 800 (Horizon League Indoor Championships).

Sophomore Shelbi Burnett and senior Marbeth Shiell each earned the Bulldogs second place finishes.  Burnett finished with a time of 11:12.95 in the 3,000 Steeplechase while Shiell completed the 1,500 in 4:35.36.  Teammate Katie Clark also competed in the 1,500, posting a fifth place finish in 4:36.20.
