Gauson, Legg Win At Miami Invitational
OXFORD, OHIO -- Senior Kris Gauson and sophomore Kirsty Legg
each picked up an individual win to pace Butler at the
weather-delayed Miami (Ohio) Invitational, which wrapped up at the
George L. Rider Track in Oxford, Ohio, on Saturday, April 9.
Butler’s men placed eighth in the meet, while Butler’s
women were 10th.
Gauson won the men’s 1500 meter run in 3:46.41, less than a
second ahead of teammate Ross Clarke, who finished runner-up in
3:46.73. Sophomore Craig Jordan came in fifth in the race in
3:49.45.
Gauson also had a fourth place finish in the men’s 800 in
1:53.46, while freshman Tom Brueggemann came in sixth in the
men’s 100 in 11.14.
Legg led Butler’s women with a first place finish in the 800
meter run in 2:11.97. She also placed 10th in the
women’s 1500 in 4:33.17.
Senior Rosie Edwards captured a fourth place finish in the
women’s 5000 meter run in 17:40.27, while junior Becky
Howarth came in seventh in the same race in 18:05.72. Also
posting “Top 10” individual finishes for the Bulldogs
were sophomore Lauren McKillop, who finished ninth in the 1500
(4:33.06), and sophomore Kaitlyn Love, who came in 10th in the 800
(2:16.78).
The 17-team meet was delayed for several hours by heavy rains and
lightening.
