Legg, Clark, Gauson Pace Bulldogs
CHARLESTON, ILL. -- Sophomores Kirsty Legg and Katie Clark and
senior Kris Gauson posted individual wins to lead Butler at the
Eastern Illinois Early Bird Meet at Lantz Fieldhouse on Friday
(Dec. 10) evening. The meet was Butler’s second of the
young season.
Clark paced the field in the women’s mile run, finishing with
a time of 4:55.14. She also finished third in the
women’s 800 in 2:17.07.
Legg led Butler to a one-two-three sweep in the women’s
3,000, posting a winning time of 9:40.22. Sophomore Shelbi
Burnett finished runner-up in the race in 10:33.19, while senior
Rosie Edward came in third in 10:37.19.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Love posted a third place finish in the
women’s 1000 in 3:01.31.
Gauson topped Butler’s men with a victory in the 3,000 meter
run in 8:21.57. He finished three seconds ahead of teammate
Ross Clarke (8:24.70) in the runner-up spot. Sophomore Kevin
Oblinger came in fourth in the race in 9:00.36.
The Bulldogs also had a strong showing in the men’s mile with
junior Matt Proctor finishing runner-up in 4:23.16 and senior
Justin Roeder coming in third in 4:25.12.
Butler’s men finished fourth in the meet with 59 points,
while Butler’s women came in fifth with 47.
