Kirsty Legg Posts Personal Bests In Summer Meet
Butler sophomore Kirsty Legg capped off a strong outdoor season
with a pair of lifetime best performances at the American Milers
Club Series held at Michael Carroll Stadium on the IUPUI campus,
June 15-18.
Legg, running unattached, came in fifth in the 1500 meter run with
a personal best time of 4:20.90 on Wednesday (June 15) and then
came back with a third place finish in the 800 meter run in a
personal best time of 2:05.72 on Saturday (June 18). Had she
been competing for the Bulldogs, both times would have ranked
second on Butler’s all-time lists.
“We are really pleased with the development of Kirsty
Legg,” said Butler head coach Matt Roe. “She has
had an outstanding sophomore campaign. She closed her season
really well, and has a lot of great running ahead of her. We
are excited to continue to watch her progress in a Butler
uniform.”
A native of Middlesborough, England, Legg’s time in the 800
ranks her #17 among all women in the United Kingdom in 2011.
Her 1500 meter time currently has her ranked #25 in the U.K.
Legg was the Horizon League champion in both the 800 and the 1500
at last spring’s league meet, which also was held at the
Michael Carroll Stadium. She went on to qualify for the NCAA
Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship and wound up
earning honorable mention All-America recognition at the national
meet.
The American Milers Club Series is a collection of meets where top
American and international athletes seek, USA, World and Olympic
qualifying marks. The meets are limited to athletes who have
competed at a very high level.
