Butler Successfully Unveils New Track

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler's track and field squads unveiled the newly-renovated Butler Track at the Davey Athletic Complex in impressive fashion on Saturday, April 28.  The Bulldogs recorded 14 individual victories in a three-team meet with IUPUI and IPFW.

Junior Kirsty Legg and freshmen Nicole Hudec and Daniel Fisher each recorded a pair of victories for the Bulldogs.  Legg won the women's 800 in 2:12.45 and the women's 1500 in 4:34.45, just 0.16 ahead of teammate Shelbi Burnett.  Hudec captured the women's 100 in 12.97 and the women's long jump with a leap of 5.26 meters.  Fisher won the men's 100 in 11.60 and the men's 200 in 23.71.

The Butler women also picked up victories from freshman Kelly Davidson in the 200 (26.44), junior Alyson Fosnot in the 5,000 (18:12.45) and freshman Ashley Albertz in the shot put (11.82 meters).

Other winners for Butler's men were sophomore Andrew Wallace in the 400 (51.66), freshman Tom Curr in the 800 (1:50.29), sophomore Craig Jordan in the 1500 (3:51.58), sophomore Nigel Spears in the long jump (6.61 meters) and senior Brad Owens in the shot put (12.62 meters).

Butler's men defeated IUPUI, 66-18, and IPFW, 75-4.  The Butler women downed IUPUI, 68-6, and IPFW, 59-38.

The meet was Butler's first at home since 1998, when the Bulldogs hosted the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Championship.
