INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler runners Katie Clark and Kodi Mullins have been named to the 2013 Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team, released by the conference office on Thursday, May 16. The Academic All-Conference Team included ten male and ten female athletes, who were chosen based on their athletic achievement and classroom performance.
Clark, a junior criminal justice major, was one of the top individual performers at the recent Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship. She won the women's 5,000 meter run in a conference record 16:17.30 and captured the women's 1500 meter run in 4:24.74. She was one of only two female runners to capture two individual titles at the conference championship.
Last fall, Clark earned All-America honors in cross country, while being named to the A-10 Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team.
Mullins, a sophomore Spanish major, was one of two Butler athletes to claim an individual title in the men's competition at the A-10 Outdoor Championship. The second-year runner captured the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:51.58. He also ran the second leg on Butler's 4 X 800 relay team, which placed third at the conference championship.
To be nominated for the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team, athletes must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. Freshmen are not eligible for the honor.
