Jenny Homan Places Second In 5,000 At Indiana Open

Sophomore Jenny Homan finished runner-up in the women's 5,000 meter run to highlight the performance of the Butler men's and women's track teams at the Indiana Open, held on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, in Bloomington, Ind. The non-scoring meet was hosted by Indiana University at Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Homan covered the 5,000 meter race in 20:10.22 and crossed the finish line in second place behind Carrie Moffett of DePaul. The runner-up finish was the best posted by any member of the Butler men's or women's team.
Freshman Rachel Hojnacki placed fourth in the women's mile run in 5:35.16, while sophomore Calli Grimes was fifth in 5:44.98. Grimes also placed seventh in the women's 800 meter run in 2:36.68.
Sophomore Aubrey Smith came in fifth in the women's 800 in 2:28.93, while sophomore Johanna Marvin placed fifth in the women's long jump with a leap of 15-03.50.
Sophomore Kent Wories had the top finish for Butler's men with a ninth place finish in the men's mile run. Wories covered the distance in 4:20.79.
