Senior Gary Blackman and junior Thomas Frazer claimed a pair of first place finishes for Butler at the Notre Dame Indoor Track and Field Invitational on Friday (Jan. 30). The two individual titles highlighted the performance of the Bulldogs in the non-scoring meet which included DePaul, Marquette, Michigan State and host Notre Dame.
Blackman, running in his first indoor meet this season, won the men's 3,000 meter race with a time of 8:20.05. He finished more than 4 seconds ahead of runner-up Kaleb VanOrt of Notre Dame. Frazer led Butler to a "one-two" finish in the mile run with a winning time of 4:11.99. He edged out teammate Nick Goodliffe by less than a second.
The Bulldogs also picked up third place finishes from Brandon Cook in the 200 meter dash (22.61), Kyle Schoof in the long jump (18-01.50) and Diana Dunsker in the 60 meter hurdles (10.21).
