Feb. 22, 2009

Several strong efforts, including a one-two finish in the men's 800 meter run, highlighted the performance of the Butler track and field squad at the Friday Night Special Meet held at Eastern Illinois University on Friday, Feb. 20. The meet was the final tune-up for the Bulldogs prior to the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Juniors Stephen Lisgo and Joe MacDonald provided one of the highlight moments of the meet with a head-to-head race to the finish line in the men's 800 meter run. Lisgo wound up winning the race in 1:54.63, narrowly edging teammate MacDonald who crossed the line in 1:54.66.

Butler's other top individual finish was turned in by junior Marbeth Shiell, who placed fifth in the women's 800 in 2:20.78.

The Bulldogs placed first of two teams in the women's distance medley relay with a time of 12:55.57 and second of three teams in the men's distance medley relay in 10:30.56.
