Brandon Cook Paces Butler At Jerry England Invitational

Sophomore sprinter Brandon Cook captured a pair of second place individual finishes to pace Butler at the Jerry England Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, March 27. The Butler women's track and field squad placed ninth in the competition, while Butler's men came in 12th.

Cook finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.21 in the finals. He was just 0.01 behind individual champ Devin Moore. Butler's speedster then came in second behind Moore in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.29.

Butler had one other runner-up finish at the Indianapolis meet. Sophomore Maria Beitel came in second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:51.92. It was a lifetime best performance for the second-year Butler runner.

Junior Rob Hartman captured a fourth place finish in the javelin with a throw of 163-06, while freshman Teri Kellar came in sixth in the discus with a toss of 100-06. Sophomore Rick Mick finished seventh in the 800 meter run with a lifetime best time of 1:59.08, while sophomore Lisa Diederich tied for seventh in the high jump with a leap of 4-11. Senior Eric Michielutti was eighth in the shot put with a toss of 43-07.75.
