Brandon Cook Sweeps Sprint Titles At DePauw Quad

Butler sophomore Brandon Cook dominated the sprint events with two individual titles and a runner-up finish at the DePauw Quad Meet held at Blackstock Stadium on the DePauw University campus in Greencastle, Ind., on Saturday, April 3. Cook was one of four Butler track athletes to claim an individual crown at the four-team track and field competition.

Cook won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.31 and then came back to win the 200 meter dash in 22.94. He then added a runner-up finish in the 400 meter dash in 52.32! A year ago, Cook set a meet record in the 100 meter dash with a winning time of 11.14.

The Bulldogs also picked up a one-two-three finish in the 5,000 meter race. Senior Brian Dunn won the event in 15:55.20, while teammates Adam Hill (15:56.47) and Bill Peterman (16:06.53) finished second and third, respectively.

Butler had two individual champs in the women's competition. Sophomore Brooke Carr won the 800 meter run in a meet record 2:17.45, while junior Jill Snyder repeated as pole vault champ with a leap of 9-0.25. Last year, Snyder set meet and track records in the event with a jump of 10-06.

Junior Rob Hartman placed runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 159-07, while sophomore Diana Dunsker was second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.81. Butler's women also placed second in the 4 X 400 meter relay (4:13.81).
