Butler Men Place Runner-up, Women Tie For Third At The DePauw Quad

The Butler men's track team captured seven first place individual finishes and placed second in the final team standings, while Butler's women added seven titles and finished in a tie for third place at the DePauw Track Quad held at Blackstone Stadium in Greencastle on Saturday, April 6.
Host DePauw captured the men's competition with 241 points, followed by Butler (182), Indiana Wesleyan (154) and Valparaiso (101). In the women's meet, Indiana Wesleyan took first place with 236 points, followed by DePauw (154), Butler (142) and Valparaiso (142).
Sophomore Trent Elliott paced Butler's men by winning both the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. The second-year Butler runner paced the field in the 110 meter high hurdles in 15.70, before coming back with a win in the 400 meter hurdles in 54.62.
Also posting first place finishes for the Bulldogs were junior Phil Yoder in the 800 meter run (1:59.42), senior Richard Vint in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:32.20), freshman Corey Norman in the pole vault (13-00), senior Matt Blake in the hammer throw (163-09) and freshman Chris King in the shot put (47-06.25).
King and junior Eric Michielutti turned in a strong performance in the throwing events for the Bulldogs. In addition to winning the shot put, King placed second in the discus (129-08) and fourth in the hammer throw (100-00). Michielutti was second in the shot put (45-07.25) and the hammer throw (120-04) and third in the discus (128-06).
Butler captured three of the top four spots in the 1,500 meter run with junior Brian Dunn coming in second, junior Brad Bennett finishing third and Yoder placing fourth.
Freshman Aubrie Nelson led Butler's women with wins in both the 100 meter dash (12.98) and the 200 meter dash (26.72). She was joined in the winner's circle by sophomore Rholonda Ash (400 meter dash, 58.22), junior Kelly Moring (1,500 meter run, 4:44.28), sophomore Danielle Ooten (3,000 meter steeplechase, 12:02.81) and freshman Jill Snyder (pole vault, 9-06). Butler also won the 4 X 400 relay in 4:04.73.
The Butler women dominated the middle distance events. The Bulldogs captured five of the top six spots in the 800 meter run, with Ash finishing second, Moring placing third, senior Andrea Stehman coming in fourth, sophomore Maria Jusseaume placing fifth and senior Audra Withers taking sixth. Freshman Monika Schneider came in eighth in the same event.
In the 1,500 meter run, junior Lissa Vogley finished runner-up to Moring, while Jusseaume came in third and Stehman finished fourth.
Senior Kara Lake placed third in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash, while freshman Kaylee Quilling tied for second in the high jump.
