Butler Men And Women Place Fourth At DePauw Quad

Butler picked up seven individual titles and came away with five meet records at the DePauw Quad Meet held at chilly Blackstock Stadium in Greencastle, Ind., on Saturday, April 5. The Bulldogs placed fourth in both the men's and women's competition.

Butler's women grabbed four individual wins and set four meet records. Sophomore Aubrie Nelson broke her own meet record, while winning the 100 meter dash in 12.93. She had set the meet mark a year ago with a winning time of 12.98. Nelson also placed third in the 200 meter dash in 27.41.

Sophomore Jill Snyder also broke her own meet record, while winning the pole vault for the second consecutive year. Snyder cleared the bar at 10-06, to break her mark of 9-06, set a year ago. Also winning and setting meet records for the Bulldogs were senior Lissa Vogley in the 5,000 meter run (18:26.41) and senior Lois Bowles in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:52.59).

The Bulldogs picked up runner-up finishes in the women's competition from senior Bethany Gaskill in the 1500 meter run (4:58.15), freshman Diana Dunsker in the 100 hurdles (16.62), freshman Lisa Diederich in the high jump (5-02.25) and junior Leslie Propst in the hammer throw (123-09).

In the men's competition, freshman Brandon Cook and senior Alex Hall both broke the meet record in the 100 meter dash. Cook won the event in 11.14, while Hall finished second in 11.21. Butler's other winners were sophomore Tommy Mathews in the high jump (6-0) and senior Eric Michielutti in the discus (137-03). Junior Lennon Wicks placed third in the 1500 meter run (4:10.43) and fourth in the 800 meter run (2:04.84).
