Butler Ends California Trip At Long Beach State Invitational

Butler head track coach Joe Franklin wrapped up a busy weekend trip to California by sending several athletes to the Long Beach State Invitational on Saturday, April 16. The meet was the third in two days for the Bulldogs, who also hosted an open meet in Indianapolis.
Junior Scott Overall and senior Nick Goodliffe turned in Butler's top individual performances at Long Beach. Overall placed fourth in the 1500 meter run in 3:48.64, while Goodliffe came in seventh in the same race in 3:50.14. Chris Smith also ran the 1500 and posted a time of 3:57.33.
Butler also had two athletes compete in the women's 1500 meter run. Freshman Isabelle Stoate came in ninth in 4:33.71, while freshman Genni Gardner finished 19th in 4:42.69. Freshman Kristi Hertzler posted a time of 15.89 in the 100 meter hurdles, while senior Jill Snyder finished the race in 19.90.
While part of Butler's team was competing in California over the weekend, the rest of the squad was hosting the Indy Relays in Indianapolis. Junior Monica Behney had Butler's top finish in the Indiana meet, winning the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:10.55.
