Bulldogs Turn In Solid Performances At The Indiana Invitational

Senior Genni Gardner placed runner-up in the women's 1500 meter run to pace Butler's strong middle distance showing at the Indiana Invitational Track and Field Meet in Bloomington on Friday, April 18. The one-day meet featured competitors from several college and club teams.

Gardner was the top collegiate finisher in the women's 1500. She posted a time of 4:32.03 to narrowly edge teammate Claire Holme for second place behind individual winner Laura Farley of Brooks Team Indiana. Holme finished third in 4:32.72.

The Bulldogs also had a strong performance in the men's 1500 meter run, paced by junior Tommy Davies with a third place finish in 3:55.22. Senior Darren Gauson placed fifth in 3:57.59, junior Andy Baker was eighth in 4:00.21 and freshman Matt Lawder was ninth in 4:10.69.

Senior Kristi Hertzler placed in two events for the Bulldogs. She finished fourth in the women's long jump with a leap of 16-04 and fifth in the women's 400 meter dash in 1:01.10. Teammate Sarah Leon was sixth in the women's 400 in 1:08.34, while Amanda Zolman finished third in the women's high jump with a jump of 4-09.
