Sophomore Monika Schneider became the second Butler track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA regional meet while winning the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Butler Twilight Meet on Saturday, May 3. She'll join teammate Becky Lyne at the regional competition later this month.

Schneider paced the field in the steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 10:54.95. It was a personal record for the distance runner from Northbrook, Ill., and the fastest steeplechase time in the Horizon League this spring.

The Bulldogs also saw a school record fall in the pole vault at the Butler Twilight Meet. Sophomore Jill Snyder broke her own school mark with a vault of 11-feet, 0-inches. She set the previous school record earlier this spring with a leap of 10-11 3/4.

Other top performances for the Bulldogs were turned in by senior Bethany Gaskill, who placed fifth in the 1500 meter run in a personal record 4:36.73, and sophomore Corey Norman, who posted a personal record of 14-06 in the pole vault. Norman's effort is the top pole vault performance in the Horizon League this spring.
