Rob Hartman Wins Javelin Throw At League Championship

Senior Rob Hartman won the men's javelin throw on the first day of the Horizon League Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Field Stadium in Indianapolis on Thursday, May 12, to highlight the performance of the Butler men's and women's track teams. The two-day championship competition will conclude on Friday, May 13.

Hartman uncorked a throw of 172.5 feet on his fourth attempt to claim the individual crown. A year ago, Hartman placed fifth in the javelin throw at the league championship.

Also scoring point for the Bulldogs on the opening day was freshman Matt Kral, who placed fifth in the pole vault.

The Butler women picked up 12 points in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Sophomore Kara Henry finished second in the race with a time of 11:06.10, while senior Monika Schneider came in fourth in 11:24.10.

Senior Jill Snyder tallied Butler's other points with a third place finish in the pole vault.
