Scott Overall Places Seventh At Mideast Regional

Senior Scott Overall placed seventh in the men's 5,000 meter run to score Butler's only points on the first day of competition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Mideast Regional in Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday (May 26). Six of the seven Butler athletes entered in the competition were in action on the first day.

Overall scored two points for the Bulldogs with his performance in the men's 5,000 meter run. He covered the distance in 14:16.55, finishing five seconds behind Seth Summerside of Arkansas in sixth place. Josphat Boit of Arkansas won the even in 14:00.73.

Butler had two competitors entered in the women's 5,000 meter finals. Junior Jenni Pereira placed 18th in the race in 17:23.38, while sophomore Genni Gardner came in 21st in 17:32.20.

In preliminary competition, the Bulldogs came up with a 14th place finish from Kate Buchan in the women's 800 meter run. Buchan finished the race in 2:10.90, missing a "Top 10" finish by just over a second. Junior Ava Hutchinson came in 17th in the women's 1500 meter run with a time of 4:42.47, while freshman Alex Hains placed 14th in the men's 1500 meter run in 3:55.79.

Senior Katie Stuckey was the final Butler competitor to see action at the Mideast Regional. She placed 13th in the women's 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:45.74.
