Bulldogs Close Out Track Season At Mideast Regional

Juniors Darren Gauson and Genni Gardner turned in solid individual efforts to highlight the performance of Butler's track and field team at the NCAA Division I Mideast Regional, which wrapped up on Saturday, May 26. The two-day national competition was held at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium at the University of Missouri.
Gauson had Butler's best individual finish, crossing the finish line of the men's 1,500 meter run in 12th place. His time of 3:52.69 in the finals was six seconds slower than his preliminary time on Friday (May 25). Gauson was seeded seventh heading into the finals.
Gardner posted a 13th place finish in the women's 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:48.08. She was 10 seconds shy of a "Top 10" individual finish.
In the men's 5,000 meter run, senior Vinny Ambrico placed 22nd and freshman Justin Roeder came in 23rd for the Bulldogs. Ambrico posted a time of 14:48.07, while Roder crossed the finish line in 14:57.69.
Senior Kara Henry finished 25th in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:02.21, while junior Isabelle Stoate was tenth in her heat in the prelims of the women's 1,500 meter run. Stoate had a time of 4:41.62. Senior Andrew Toward finished ninth in his heat of the men's 1,500 meter run in 3:50.15.
