Senior Scott Overall broke his own school record in the 3,000 meter run and Butler picked up strong individual performances from senior Alex Hains and junior Isabelle Stoate at the 20th Annual Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3. The non-scoring meet featured some of the top performers from across the nation.
Overall crossed the finish line in the men's 3,000 in 7:55.36, the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA Division I this season! He broke the Butler indoor record of 7:56.56 that he set a year ago. Overall finished fifth in the race, trailing unattached runner Nate Brannen in fourth place by just 0:00.13 and coming in less than three seconds behind individual champ Chris Solinsky of Wisconsin.
Hains placed sixth in the men's 5,000 meter run in 14:20.14. He finished less than five seconds behind Corey Nowitzke of Eastern Michigan in fifth place. Stoate, running for the first time this season, placed 13th in the women's 1,000 meter run in 3:01.22. She also posted a time of 5:15.37 in the mile run.
The two-day Meyo Invitational featured 85 NCAA provisional qualifying performances and six new meet records.
